In a recent report, Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) stated that Everton have intensified their efforts to recruit AS Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove this summer. It has been revealed that the Toffees are showing interest in recruiting the Italian talent in this summer transfer window.
Bove’s Impressive Form In Serie A
Bove enjoyed a decent campaign at the Italian club as he produced a few impressive displays at the centre of their midfield. The 22-year-old found the back of the net once and earned a couple of assists in 45 matches for AS Roma last season across multiple competitions.
The Roma-born midfield ace caught the eye at times in the middle of the park based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 0.4 interceptions and 0.4 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He was even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 84.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
Bove is under contract at the Merseyside club until the summer of 2028, so the Toffees could struggle to land him on a cut-price deal this month.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Go For Bove?
Bove is a tough-tackling midfielder who can make the odd interception for his team at the centre of the park. He usually clears the danger when he can and is an accurate passer of the ball as well.
The Italian sensation is a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if told to do so by his manager. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if Everton manage to recruit him in this summer transfer window.
Bove would add more bite and steel to Sean Dyche’s midfield department. He is good enough to serve as an important member of the Merseyside club‘s match-day squad in the coming years.
At 22, Bove has the potential to be a future star at the highest level. Therefore, the Toffees should go for a player of his skill set before the end of this summer transfer window.
