In a recent tweet, Gianluigi Longari claimed that Everton are keeping a keen eye on AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham. It has been stated that the Toffees are showing interest in securing the services of the English striker this summer.
Abraham’s Injury Concerns In Italian Football
Abraham endured an injury-ravaged season at the Italian club as he missed a lot of important games for them due to injuries. The English sensation scored one goal and picked up one assist in 12 matches for AS Roma in the previous campaign in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he only averaged 0.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He lacked quality when distributing the ball in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 51.4% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for Everton to snap him up on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Move In For Abraham?
Abraham can create a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can create the odd chance for his teammates when he is playing well on the pitch. However, frequent injuries have often derailed his progress at Roma. Hence, the English talent might fancy a change of scenery this summer as he looks to get his career back on track. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of Premier League football.
We can expect Abraham to add more quality to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attack. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at Goodison Park in the coming seasons.
At 26, Abraham is about to enter his prime which makes him a good choice for the Toffees to consider in this summer transfer window. However, only time will tell whether he can steer clear of injuries.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting a striker of Abraham’s experience. Hence, Dyche should focus on moving in for him this summer.
