In a recent tweet, renowned journalist David Ornstein claimed that Everton are eyeing a loan move for Newcastle United full-back Kieran Trippier this month. It has been mentioned that the Toffees are among the clubs hoping to sign the English talent on a loan deal before the end of this transfer window.
Trippier’s Good Run Of Form At St. James’ Park Last Season
Trippier had an impressive campaign at St. James’ Park recently after he put in a string of eye-catching displays on the right side of Newcastle’s defence. The England international registered one goal and picked up 11 assists in 39 matches for the Magpies last season across all fronts.
The 33-year-old proved his worth on the right flank by averaging 2.0 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.7 clearances, 2.3 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even accurate with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 79.7% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Tyneside club will run out at the end of next season which could open the door for the Toffees to land him in this transfer period.
Is Trippier A Good Fit For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?
Trippier is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears his lines when needed but can sometimes be a bit slow to react to the danger inside his half.
The English talent is an excellent crosser of the ball and can set up a few inviting chances for his teammates up top. He is a pure striker of the ball and can make some driving runs from the right flank.
Trippier would no doubt enhance the quality of Everton‘s first team. He is good enough to nail down a regular starting spot at Goodison Park this season. Therefore, Sean Dyche would be wise to get a loan deal done for him as he will be a good fit for the Merseyside club‘s needs in the short term.
Trippier has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and is well-equipped to make an immediate impact at Everton. At 33, he might still have a few good seasons left in him to play at his best.
