In a recent report, Tutto Salernitana mentioned that Everton are among the clubs hoping to sign Salernitana forward Boulaye Dia. It has been stated that the Toffees could face competition in the form of West Ham United, Brentford, Newcastle United, Villarreal, Real Betis, Sevilla and Girona in the race to land the Senegalese striker this off-season.
Dia’s Recent Form In Italian Football
The 27-year-old managed to catch the eye at times for the Italian club in the previous campaign when he put in a few impressive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. Dia banged in four goals in 18 matches for Salernitana last season across multiple competitions.
The Senegalese talent led the line well for his team as he averaged 1.7 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in Serie A. He was even tidy with his ball distribution after making 84.3% of his attempted passes in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for Everton to land him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Go For Dia This Summer?
Dia is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a decent finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. The Senegalese talent can engineer the odd chance for his teammates to score and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. He is an accurate passer of the ball as well in the opponent’s half.
Dia mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a right-winger if told to do so. We can expect him to inject more firepower into Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline. Dia is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park in the coming seasons.
At 27, the Senegalese forward is playing at the peak of his career which makes him a decent choice for the Toffees to pursue this off-season. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of English football. Still, Everton should go for a player of his skillset this summer.
