According to Ojogo, Chelsea have submitted an offer of £54m for Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix. The former club are positive about the signing and it could also help save the transfer of Conor Gallagher to the Spanish club.
Joao Felix is no longer wanted at Atletico Madrid
Joao Felix was considered a sensation in his youth days and the future star of Atletico Madrid. However, things changed rapidly as his inconsistent performances did no good. As he is no longer wanted by Diego Simeone, the club wants to offload him.
Felix represented Barcelona in the previous season as a loanee. He found the back of the net 10 times in 44 games apart from providing six assists. He averaged 1.8 shots, 0.6 key passes, and 0.8 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Portuguese international is extremely skilful on the ball. He can create good chances in the final third with his passes, dribbling, and trickery. He has also got the ability to provide the finishing touches and features in multiple positions.
Chelsea are positive about signing Joao Felix
Chelsea continue to target wide-area players as their wingers were inconsistent last season. They were over-dependent upon Cole Palmer to produce some magic on the field. However, as the club looks to compete better this season, they want to strengthen other areas as well.
Since Samu Omorodion’s deal collapsed recently due to a contractual issue, the Blues want to lure away Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. The pursuit makes sense given the versatility of the player in the final third. Interestingly, the attacker has been part of the English club previously.
It means Felix will require less time to adapt and start hitting the ground. For him, it would be a great option to end his Atletico Madrid nightmare. It will give him a golden chance to restart his career and reach new heights.
