According to reputed German journalist Christopher Michel, Chelsea are showing interest in signing Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho this summer. The former club want an initial loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause.
Jadon Sancho was impressive last season
Jadon Sancho came into the limelight during his initial stint at Borussia Dortmund. As a result, Manchester United spent big to sign him in the summer of 2021. While the player always showed his immense potential, he could never start hitting the ground at Old Trafford.
Sancho spent the second half of the previous season at Borussia Dortmund. He scored three goals and as many assists in 24 games. He averaged 0.4 shots, 1.3 key passes, and 3.7 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The English international is known for his creativity in the final third. He can play on both wings and can create threats with his dribbles, pace and key passes. However, he needs to find the back of the net more often and also contribute more defensively.
Manchester United want to get rid of Jadon Sancho
Chelsea suffered to score goals up front last season and were over-dependent upon Cole Palmer. Hence, the pursuit of Jadon Sancho could be a good move. With high quality and prior Premier League experience, he can make a good impact at Stamford Bridge.
However, the move looks a bit unrealistic at the moment. The Blues recently spent high on acquiring Pedro Neto. With so many options already at their disposal, Sancho’s move might be materialized until they manage to offload someone this summer.
Manchester United want €40 million for the winger, which shouldn’t be an issue for Chelsea. They are even ready to pay his €18 million a year salary. Apart from the Blues, PSG are also keen on getting Sancho’s signature as they look to fill Kylian Mbappe’s shoes. However, the deal with the French club might not be done soon.
