In a recent report, AS claimed that Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies wants to join Real Madrid this summer. It has been revealed that the Bavarian club are open to cashing in on the Canadian defender which could open the door for Los Blancos to recruit him this off-season.
Davies’ Decent Season At The Allianz Arena
Davies managed to put in a run of solid displays for the German club on the left flank in the previous campaign. The 23-year-old scored three goals and picked up six assists in 42 matches for Bayern Munich last season in multiple competitions.
The Canadian talent has been a decent performer on the left wing as he averaged 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.3 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He was even tidy when distributing the ball after completing 88.9% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the German club will run out at the end of next season which could give Real Madrid a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Davies Up This Summer?
Davies is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and is a good crosser of the ball.
The Canada international can create some inviting chances for his teammates to score and is a good dribbler with the ball. He is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a left-winger if told to do so.
We can expect Davies to add more quality to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. He is good enough to help Los Blancos challenge for a few major trophies over the next few years.
At 23, Davies has got a bright future ahead of him. Therefore, the Madrid giants would be wise to snap him up before the end of this transfer period. However, it remains to be seen whether the Canadian talent can maintain his good form in Spanish football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting Davies, so Ancelotti should go for someone with his skillset this summer.
