In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo mentioned that Barcelona have launched a fresh move for Red Bull Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo. It has been revealed that the Catalan club are ready to pay €47m plus €13m in variables to bring the Spain international to the Nou Camp this summer.
Olmo’s Impressive Form In German Football Last Season
The 26-year-old had an impressive season at the German club recently after he produced a handful of decent displays for them in the final third. Olmo registered eight goals and picked up five assists in 25 appearances for RB Leipzig in the previous campaign across all competitions.
The Spanish playmaker was a consistent performer in the opposition half and deserves some credit for averaging 2.1 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even careful with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 79.6% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Red Bull Arena will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Barcelona to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.
What Will Olmo Bring To Barcelona?
Olmo is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make some driving runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for others around him on the offensive third of the field.
The Spanish talent can even shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if told to do so.
We can expect Olmo to bring more goals and creativity to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s frontline. He has what it takes to secure a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp in the coming seasons.
At 26, Olmo is about to enter his prime, so Barca would do well to get him on board in this transfer period. He already knows La Liga well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Catalan club. Hence, Flick should focus on going all out to recruit him this summer.
