In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Barcelona are keen on recruiting Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. It has been claimed that the Catalan outfit are planning to rival Real Madrid in the race to sign the England international.
Alexander-Arnold’s Impressive Record At Merseyside Last Season
Alexander-Arnold had a solid campaign at the Merseyside club recently as he managed to put in a series of impressive displays on the right side of their backline. The Liverpool-born talent registered three goals and picked up nine assists in 37 matches for the Reds last season on all fronts.
The 25-year-old deserves a lot of credit for averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 1.7 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He even distributed the ball accurately from the right flank after making 79.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Anfield will run out at the end of this season which could open the door for the Catalan club to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Go For Alexander-Arnold?
Alexander-Arnold is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his side inside his half. He usually clears the danger when required and can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range.
The English right-back has also got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He is a strong runner with the ball as well but can be caught out of position at times on the defensive end of the pitch.
We can expect Alexander-Arnold to enhance the quality of Barcelona‘s first XI. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp. Therefore, Barca boss Hansi Flick would be wise to go for a player of his skillset in the future.
At 25, Alexander-Arnold will only get better over the next few years which makes him a worthy target for the Catalan giants to pursue next summer. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Flick manages to bring him to Spain this month or next summer.
