In a recent report, Sport claimed that Barcelona are considering a late move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. It has been stated that the Catalan club could move in for the Italy international, who could be available for just €14m in this summer transfer window.
Chiesa’s Impressive Season In Serie A
Chiesa had a decent season at Juventus recently as he managed to put in a run of productive performances for them in Serie A. The Italian wide player made 37 appearances for the Turin outfit in the previous campaign, scoring ten goals and grabbing three assists on all fronts.
The 26-year-old was a decent performer in the final third based on his average of 2.3 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.2 crosses and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A football. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from the wide areas after making 77.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will expire at the end of next season which could give Barcelona a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal this month.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Snap Chiesa Up This Summer?
Chiesa is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some impressive runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Italian sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. However, Chiesa has to find a way to be more consistent in front of the opponent’s goal. Furthermore, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Spain.
We can expect Chiesa to bring more firepower to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at the Nou Camp this season. At 26, the Italian talent is about to enter his prime which makes him a good option for the Catalan club to consider this summer.
Chiesa might even help Barca compete for some major trophies in the coming years. Therefore, Flick should consider snapping him up in this transfer window.
