In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that West Ham United have tabled a move for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville. It has been mentioned that the Hammers have launched an offer to bring the Dutch winger to the London Stadium but are facing competition from AS Roma for him.
Summerville’s Impressive Form At Elland Road
Summerville had a brilliant season at the West Yorkshire club as he put in a lot of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The 22-year-old banged in 21 goals and secured ten assists in 49 matches for Leeds in the previous campaign in various competitions.
The Rotterdam-born talent has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 3.0 shots, 2.6 key passes, 2.0 crosses and 2.2 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship. He has even been careful when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 85.1% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Elland Road will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it difficult for West Ham to sign him on the cheap later this year.
Is Summerville A Decent Option For West Ham United?
Summerville is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create a few decent chances for others around him in the opponent’s half. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team.
The Dutch attacker is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also serve as a right-winger if asked to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Hammers manage to sign him this summer.
At 22, the future looks quite promising for Summerville as long as he continues to improve with each season. With all things considered, he would be a decent option for West Ham to consider this off-season as he would bring more goals and creativity to Julen Lopetegui’s attack. However, the Hammers need to be a bit patient with his development if they plan to get the best out of the Dutch youngster in the long run.
