In a recent report, Area Napoli claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to rival Napoli for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer. It has been stated that Spurs are showing interest in recruiting the Italy international this off-season.
Chiesa’s Impressive Form In Serie A Last Season
Chiesa experienced a solid campaign at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 26-year-old scored ten goals and picked up three assists in 37 matches for Juventus last season across all fronts.
The Genova-born talent has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.3 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.2 crosses and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even distributed the ball relatively well, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 77.3% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turin club will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, Spurs could potentially land him on a cut-price deal this off-season.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Chiesa Up?
Chiesa is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He has got the vision to orchestrate some clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
Chiesa is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger but can also function as a striker down the middle if asked to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to sign him this off-season.
The Italian talent would add more firepower to Tottenham Hotspur boss Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 26, Chiesa has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for Spurs to consider in the summer. He would even help the North London club compete for some major trophies in the coming years.
