In a recent interview with Tottenham News, pundit Alan Hutton backed Tottenham Hotspur to recruit Fulham star Andreas Pereira this summer. Hutton said,
“I think Periera is a very good footballer.
“He had a really good season and him coming in would give you something a little bit different within there.
“You’d think there would be movement with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, could he be leaving? Pape Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, it was all kind of changing towards the end of the season so maybe he’s just searching for something different.
“Maybe he could be that guy and he would be another experienced footballer coming into the ranks. I just feel that it is probably for further forward the pitch.
“I know they’ve got options but you saw when Maddison was out they struggled to get somebody to fill that void and of course, the other one will be the number nine situation and what they’re going to do with that.”
Pereira’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football Last Season
Pereira enjoyed a decent campaign at the London club as he produced a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 28-year-old scored three times and picked up nine assists in 44 matches for Fulham last season across all fronts.
The Brazil international was a reliable performer for the Cottagers in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.4 shots, 2.3 key passes, 1.8 crosses and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 78.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Pereira Bring To Tottenham Hotspur?
Pereira can shoot the ball well from long range and has got the vision to set up a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top.
We can expect Pereira to bring more quality to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 28, Pereira is about to enter his prime which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to pursue in this transfer window. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
