In a recent interview, journalist Alan Hutton claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to move in for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze this summer. Hutton said,
“Yeah, I think so for someone who is so talented and at a good age.
“Normally when you get a little bit older, you get a little more restricted. You need to play in a certain type of formation, you need to be this sort of player and he just doesn’t look like that sort of guy.
“He (Eberechi Eze) just goes out and plays with a smile on his face, he plays with a lot of freedom and he’s got so much attacking quality. He can score goals, he can assist, these are the type of guys you need and he’s been rewarded for his good form by being picked for the England squad.
“I think he could go and be a shining star so £60million is right. You look at some of the prices that are getting banded around now for players that aren’t as good, so I can understand that.
“If he’s going to be available for that price, I think Levy will spend it.”
Eze’s Impressive Run Of Form At Selhurst Park
Eze enjoyed a decent campaign at the London club after he produced a series of impressive displays at the centre of their backline. The 26-year-old scored 11 times and picked up six assists in 31 appearances for Crystal Palace last season in all competitions.
The London-born talent was a reliable presence on the offensive end of the field as he averaged 3.1 shots, 2.0 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 83.7% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Is Eze A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur?
Eze can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top.
At 26, Eze has his best years ahead of him which makes him an excellent option for Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu to consider in this summer transfer window. We can expect him to add more firepower to the North London club‘s frontline.
With all things considered, Eze could prove to be a success story at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Spurs can manage to get a deal done for him ahead of the new campaign.
