In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a keen eye on Aston Villa ace Jacob Ramsey this summer. It has been claimed that Spurs have identified the English talent as a target for this transfer window.
Ramsey’s Impressive Season At Villa Park
Ramsey enjoyed a decent campaign at the Midlands club as he put in a few impressive performances for them in the final third. The 23-year-old scored one goal and picked up a couple of assists in 21 matches for Aston Villa last season in all competitions.
The Birmingham-born talent made a lot of his appearances off the bench which explains why he only averaged 1.2 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 81.9% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Villa Park will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Spurs to snap him up on a cut-price deal later this year.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Move In For Ramsey?
Ramsey can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and can make a few driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He has got the vision to orchestrate a few inviting chances for his teammates in and around the opposition penalty area.
The English sensation mainly operates as an attacking midfielder but can also function as a wide player if the opposition are on the offensive. However, he needs to be more consistent with his offensive numbers if he wants to become a regular starter in top-flight football.
At 23, Ramsey has his best years ahead of him which makes him a great choice for Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu to consider in this summer transfer period. He would inject more firepower into the North London club‘s frontline.
All in all, Postecoglu should focus on moving in for Ramsey as he could help Spurs challenge for a top-four finisher in the Premier League next season.
