In a recent edition of the Debrief, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto. Romano said,
“I think up front is where they are focused. Pedro Neto at Wolves is a player they really like and that is an expensive deal. Neto and Eze at Crystal Palace, these are the two players they like the most, but it’s not easy to negotiate with these two clubs. Two complicated deals, but Tottenham will do something, they are exploring options and will be active in the next weeks.”
Neto’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Premier League
Neto enjoyed a good campaign at the Molineux Stadium as he put in a run of impressive displays for Wolves in the final third. The 24-year-old scored three goals and grabbed 11 assists in 24 matches for the West Midlands club last season on all fronts.
The Portugal international was a consistent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.8 shots, 1.9 key passes, 1.7 crosses and 1.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing the ball after making 83.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Neto Add To Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu’s Team?
Neto is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to create some meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third.
The Portuguese sensation is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if told to do so. We can expect Neto to add more pace and firepower to Tottenham Hotspur boss Angelos Postecoglu’s attack.
At 24, the Wolves star has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for Spurs to consider in this summer transfer period. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Postecoglu can find a way to get a deal done for him this off-season.
