In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo mentioned that Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eager to bring the Canada international to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this off-season.
Davies’ Impressive Form In German Football
Davies enjoyed a decent campaign at the Bavarian club as he was responsible for producing a run of impressive displays for them on the left flank. The Canada international was involved in 42 matches for Bayern Munich last season, netting three goals and picking up six assists across various competitions.
The 23-year-old was a reliable performer on the left wing based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.3 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga football. He was even excellent when distributing possession after making 88.9% of his attempted passes in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Allianz Arena will run out at the end of next season which could give Los Blancos a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Bring Davies On Board?
Davies is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Canadian sensation has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates from the left flank. He is a good runner with the ball as well when he is dribbling at a high pace in the final third.
Davies has proven his worth as a consistent performer in the Bundesliga. However, he might need some time to adapt to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to snap him up in this summer transfer period.
At 23, Davies has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Los Blancos to pursue this off-season. He could even help the Madrid giants challenge for some major trophies over the next decade. With all things considered, Real Madrid would be wise to try everything they can to bring Davies on board before the end of this transfer period.
