In a recent report, Sport stated that Real Madrid have set their sights on Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos have identified the French midfielder as a target for this summer transfer period.
Thuram’s Impressive Form In French Football
Thuram put in a string of impressive displays for the French club in the previous campaign. He anchored the midfield with conviction and did well to score one goal and secure one assist in 29 matches for Nice last season on all fronts.
The French talent has been a reliable performer in the middle of the park and deserves credit for averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 87.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the French club will expire at the end of next season which could open the door for Los Blancos to snap him up on the cheap later this year.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Move In For Thuram?
Thuram can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. The French talent doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
Thuram can even create some decent openings for others around him and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Standing at 1.92m, he can use his strong frame to win a few aerial duels but is still unproven outside French football.
Thuram would no doubt add more quality and depth to Real Madrid‘s midfield department. At 23, he has got a bright future ahead of him and would be a terrific signing for the Madrid giants to pull off in the long run.
Thuram is good enough to help Los Blancos compete for a lot of major honours over the next decade. Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to move in for him before the end of this summer transfer period. However, it remains to be seen whether Thuram can maintain his good form in La Liga.
