In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid are showing interest in Liverpool playmaker Trent Alexander-Arnold next summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the England international when he becomes a free agent at the end of next season.
Alexander-Arnold’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football
Alexander-Arnold enjoyed a decent campaign at the Merseyside club as he put in a series of influential displays on the right side of Liverpool’s backline. The 25-year-old scored three goals and grabbed nine assists in 37 matches for the Reds last season on all fronts.
The Liverpool-born talent caught the eye at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 1.7 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 79.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Anfield will run out at the end of next season which could open the door for the Madrid giants to sign him on a free transfer in 2025.
Is Alexander-Arnold A Good Option For Real Madrid?
Alexander-Arnold is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed but can be caught out of position at times on the defensive third of the field.
The English talent can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates from the right flank. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well and can deliver some dangerous crosses into the opponent’s penalty area.
Alexander-Arnold would add more quality and depth to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He is good enough to help Los Blancos compete for a lot of major trophies over the next few seasons. Therefore, Alexander-Arnold could prove to be a decent option for Real Madrid to consider next summer.
