In a recent report, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold who has less than a year left to run in his contract. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to recruit the England international.
Alexander-Arnold’s Decent Run Of Form At Merseyside
The 25-year-old experienced an impressive campaign at Anfield after he produced a run of eye-catching displays on the right side of Liverpool’s defence. Alexander-Arnold found the back of the net three times and secured nine assists in 37 appearances for the Reds last season across various competitions.
The English playmaker was a consistent performer on the right flank as he averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 1.7 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even distributed possession relatively well after making 79.6% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will expire at the end of next season which could give Los Blancos a chance to snap him up on the cheap this off-season.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Move In For Alexander-Arnold?
Alexander-Arnold is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range.
The English talent has got the vision to create a lot of good chances for his teammates up top and is a strong runner with the ball as well. However, he can sometimes be caught out of position which can make him a liability at times on the defensive third of the field.
We can expect Alexander-Arnold to add a lot of quality to Real Madrid‘s first XI. He might even help Los Blancos challenge for a lot of major silverware over the next few years. At 25, Alexander-Arnold has his best years ahead of him. Hence, Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to move in for the England international ahead of the new campaign.
