In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Real Madrid are in talks to land France international Adrien Rabiot this summer. It is understood that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to recruit the experienced midfielder this off-season.
Rabiot’s Impressive Form At The Allianz Stadium
The 29-year-old had a decent campaign at Juventus recently as he put in a handful of influential performances for them in the middle of the park. Rabiot found the back of the net five times and picked up three assists in 35 appearances for the Turin outfit last season in multiple competitions.
The French sensation has been a reliable presence at the heart of Juve’s midfield based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.2 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 84.4% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Rabiot is a free agent at the moment, so it makes sense for Los Blancos to try and bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on a free transfer later this year.
What Will Rabiot Add To Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Side?
Rabiot is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The French talent has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and is a good runner with the ball as well. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if needed.
At 29, Rabiot is playing in his prime which makes him a decent option for Los Blancos to consider later this year. He would add more energy and dynamism to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield department.
Rabiot has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could serve as a useful piece in Ancelotti’s match-day squad. He might even help the Madrid giants challenge for some major trophies over the next few years.
