In a recent report, Marca claimed that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies next summer. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eager to sign the Canadian talent on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.
Davies’ Impressive Form In The Bundesliga
Davies managed to catch the eye at times with his performances on the left side of Bayern’s backline in the previous campaign. The 23-year-old registered three goals and picked up six assists in 42 matches for the German club last season on all fronts.
The Canadian left-back gave a good account of himself on the left flank and deserves credit for averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.3 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball after making 88.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Davies is under contract at the German club until the end of next season. Thus, it makes sense for Real Madrid to snap him up on a free transfer in 2025.
Is Davies A Decent Option For Real Madrid?
Davies is a tough-tackling full-back who can make some important interceptions for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can also got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. The Canada international is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet. He is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect Davies to bring more quality to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He is good enough to earn a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club in the coming years.
Thus, it is a no-brainer for Los Blancos to try and sign the Canadian sensation on a free transfer at the end of next season. At 23, Davies has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday, so Real Madrid would do well to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in 2025. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga.
