If a recent report from The Daily Mail (as cited by the Daily Record) is believed to be true, Rangers could reignite interest in Tyrese Campbell who is available on a Bosman. Both the Glasgow giants were keen to have him four years back. However, he decided to stay at Stoke City and continue his development south of the border.
The 24-year-old former England youth international had a brief stint in the academy of Manchester City before leaving for Stoke in 2016. After a few years with the reserves and limited senior minutes, Campbell was loaned out to Shrewsbury Town for regular gametime. He netted five times in 15 outings for the League One side and the Potters, therefore, reintegrated him into the senior setup from the 2019-20 season onwards.
Although he was showing signs of improvement with first-team engagement, a serious knee injury derailed his progress as he missed almost 10 months of football in 2022. He never regained momentum post-injury return and the Championship outfit have now released the Englishman upon contract expiry.
Tyrese, who is also the son of former Arsenal centre-forward Kevin Campbell, has an array of suitors with Sheffield United, West Brom, QPR, Preston and Cardiff City likely to rival Rangers for the youngster. It remains to be seen whether he prefers to stay in the Championship or accepts the Gers’ offer this time around.
