In a recent report on Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon claimed that Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Sheffield United striker Will Osula. It has been stated that the Magpies are eager to acquire the services of the Danish forward this summer.
Osula’s Recent Rise At Bramall Lane
Osula managed to catch the eye at times for the Blades in the FA Cup last season after he scored three times in two matches for them in the competition. However, the 20-year-old made 21 appearances for Sheffield United in the Premier League but failed to find the back of the net.
The Danish attacker saw most of his playing opportunities come off the bench. Hence, he might struggle to nail down a regular first-team spot at St. James’ Park if Newcastle manage to bring him on board this summer.
His current contract at Bramall Lane will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Osula Up This Summer?
Osula can create a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. However, he has to work on improving his finishing up top. Standing at 1.86m, he can use his strong frame to hold possession up for his team in the opponent’s half. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
Still, there is no denying that Osula would be a great addition to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s squad in the long run. He has what it takes to serve as an ideal understudy to Alexander Isak at the Tyneside club.
Osula might even serve as a good, long-term replacement for Callum Wilson at St. James’ Park. With all things considered, the Magpies would be wise to try everything in their power to snap him up before the end of this summer transfer window.
At the very least, Osula would help Newcastle compete across all fronts in the coming years. At 20, he has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday as long as he continues to improve with each season.
