According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are considering signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah this summer. The Blues have put the player on the sale list as he is not part of their plans for next season.
Trevoh Chalobah’s current situation
Trevoh Chalobah came through the ranks of Chelsea Academy and made his senior team debut in 2021. While he started on a strong note, the shining period didn’t last long enough. As he struggled to remain fit, his value in the side kept on falling.
Chalobah did make a comeback last summer but he got only limited opportunity. He appeared in just 17 games, in which he scored one goal. He averaged 1.2 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 3.8 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The English defender can feature as a centre-back or even as a right-back. He is physically strong and wins a lot of balls. Excellent at passing, he switches the play really well and provides passes in the spaces. However, fitness has been an issue for him.
Trevoh Chalobah can add value
Earlier, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca left Trevoh Chalobah out of the pre-season squad. It’s a clear indication that the latter isn’t in the plans of the former for next season. Even the club has communicated the decision to the player. However, the defender will only leave Stamford Bridge if he finds an exciting project in Europe.
In that regard, joining Manchester United shouldn’t be a bad move for Chalobah. Playing at Old Trafford will ensure that he gets to fight for all the trophies. Moreover, he might get decent games under his belt as Aaron Wan-Bissaka might leave this summer.
Chalobah has four years left on his contract with the Blues, who value him around £30 million. Should the Red Devils decide to sign him, the finances shouldn’t be an issue for them.
