As reported by French journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin, Manchester United are inching close to signing Adrien Rabiot this summer. The addition of the player will bolster the team’s midfield and help them do well across all competitions next season.
Adrien Rabiot needs no introduction
Adrien Rabiot is quite a popular figure in the world of football. He started his journey with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) before switching to Juventus in 2019. After a five-year stint, he left the Italian club at the end of the last season to play in the English league.
Rabiot did decently well last season for Juventus, where he turned up 35 times. He scored five goals and also provided three assists. He averaged 1.9 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, and 0.9 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The French midfielder doesn’t like to remain fixed in a position and enjoys a free role. He can drift forward to contribute in the offensive build-up. But when it comes to providing defensive aspects, he is equally good with his tackles and interceptions.
Adrien Rabiot will come for free
Manchester United are in need of a new midfielder as the future of Casemiro remains uncertain. To fill his shoes, the club believe Adrien Rabiot can be a good option. Considering his qualities and experience, the French international would be a great addition to the unit.
Rabiot can be used in different formations and his presence will help young Kobbie Mainoo in the midfield. The former is at the peak of his powers and can make an instant impact upon his arrival at Old Trafford. Moreover, the best part is that the veteran will come as a free agent.
Earlier, arch-rivals Liverpool were also linked to the player but it seems like they are not keen on making any move. This situation will surely add to Manchester United’s favour.
