In a recent report, The Daily Mirror mentioned that Manchester City have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze. It has been claimed that the Mancunian giants are eyeing a £68m move to bring the England international to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
Eze’s Impressive Form At Selhurst Park Last Season
Eze enjoyed a decent campaign at the London club as he put in a series of impressive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The English sensation netted 11 times and picked up six assists in 31 matches for Crystal Palace last season across multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old proved his worth in the final third by averaging 3.1 shots, 2.0 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 83.7% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Eze’s current contract at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Man City to land him on the cheap this off-season.
Is Eze A Good Fit For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?
Eze is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can shoot the ball with venom and precision from long range and has got the eye to set up some promising chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field.
The English playmaker is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a left-winger if asked to do so. He would bring more firepower to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola’s frontline.
Eze is more than capable of earning a regular starting place at the Etihad Stadium next season as long as he can steer clear of injuries. At 26, he is about to enter the peak stage of his playing career and has what it takes to make an instant impact at the Mancunian club.
Eze is good enough to help Man City compete for a lot of major silverware over the next few years. Thus, the English attacker would be a good fit for Guardiola’s needs this summer.
