In a recent report, Globo Esporte claimed that Manchester City have an agreement in place to sign Troyes winger Savio. It has been stated that the Mancunian club are hoping to bring the Brazilian youngster to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
Savio’s Recent Loan Spell In Spain
Savio enjoyed a productive loan spell at Girona last season as he was responsible for putting in a lot of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 20-year-old registered 11 goals and picked up ten assists in 41 matches for the Spanish outfit last season in multiple competitions.
The talented starlet was a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 1.2 shots, 1.4 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was even excellent when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 83.2% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Troyes will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Man City to sign him on the cheap this off-season.
Manchester City Have An Agreement In Place To Sign Savio: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Savio is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He can create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. The Brazilian whizkid can even shoot the ball purely and with power from long range and did well to add a lot of goals and assists to his game last season. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
There is no denying that Savio is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, Man City boss Pep Guardiola would be wise to get a deal over the line for him before the end of this transfer window.
At 20, Savio could be a star in the making and would be an excellent signing for the Mancunian giants in the long run. However, Guardiola has to be patient with his development before he can get the best out of the youngster.
