In a recent report, Dutch news outlet ED claimed that Manchester City are keeping tabs on PSV Eindhoven forward Jason van Duiven. It is believed that the Mancunian giants have made an offer to recruit the Dutch youngster this summer.
Duiven’s Impressive Rise In Dutch Football
Duiven has come through the youth ranks of PSV Eindhoven but is still waiting to make his first senior appearance for the Dutch club. The 19-year-old experienced a six-month loan spell at Almere City last season but failed to impress with his performances in the final third.
The Dutch whizkid made 14 senior appearances for Almere City in the previous campaign but failed to score or create a goal for them across all fronts. Still, there is no denying that Duiven is a prospect to watch out for in the future.
His current contract at his parent club PSV Eindhoven will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it difficult for Man City to arrange a cut-price move for him this off-season.
Manchester City Are Keeping Tabs On Duiven: Is He A Star In The Making?
Duiven can create some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can also engineer the odd chance for his teammates when he is playing well on the field. However, the Dutch talent is still quite raw and would need time before he is ready for top-flight football.
Furthermore, there are some question marks over whether Duiven can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Man City manage to snap him up this summer.
Duiven would no doubt add more quality to Pep Guardiola‘s attack in the long run. However, at the moment, he is not good enough to represent the Mancunian club in the Premier League.
However, at 19, Duiven has the potential to be a success story at the Etihad Stadium in the long run. Hence, he could be a star in the making if the talented forward can continue to improve his game with each season. With all things considered, Guardiola should consider going all out to bring the Dutch prospect to England this summer.
