In a recent report, Bild mentioned that Manchester City are among the clubs eager to land Red Bull Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo. It has been stated that the Mancunian club are ready to push harder in their efforts to land the Spanish playmaker this summer.
Olmo’s Impressive Run Of Form In German Football
Olmo enjoyed a decent campaign at the German club last season when he produced a string of influential displays for them in the final third. The 26-year-old scored eight goals and secured five assists in 25 matches for RB Leipzig in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Spanish talent caught the eye at times on both halves based on his average of 1.2 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 2.1 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 79.6% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Red Bull Arena will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Man City to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.
Is Olmo A Dream Option For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?
Olmo is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some shots in at goal. He has got the vision to orchestrate a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Spanish sensation is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a left-winger or as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so. We can expect Olmo to bring more firepower to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s attacking department.
Olmo has what it takes to nail down a regular starting place at the Etihad Stadium next season and could serve as a good, long-term successor to Kevin de Bruyne at the Mancunian club. At 26, the Spanish playmaker is about to enter his prime which makes him a dream option for Man City to consider in this summer transfer window. However, there are some concerns over whether Olmo would be able to make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.
