According to Japanese publication Sports Nippon, Liverpool are impressed with Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo’s progress in recent years. The Premier League club are even preparing a bid worth €65m to sign the player this summer.
Takefusa Kubo has great qualities
Takefusa Kubo represented Barcelona and Real Madrid among a few other clubs before signing for Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022. In a short time, he managed to earn the faith of the management and emerged as one of their premium players.
Kubo is currently one of the best attackers in the La Liga. He featured in 41 games last season, netting seven times and providing five assists. He averaged 1.5 shots, 2.1 key passes, and 1.9 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Japanese international, who plays on the right wing, is incredibly talented on the ball. He can dribble, provide key passes, pur crosses, or shoot from a distance. He also tracks back to help his team in defensive duties.
A perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah?
There were doubts earlier over the future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. But it seems like the star campaigner is going to stay for next season. However, that hasn’t calmed the club as they prepare for life without him.
The Reds believe Takefusa Kubo can be a perfect fit to fill Salah’s shoes in the future. Just like the Egyptian, the Japanese play on the right wing. Similarly, he also uses the change of pace and dribbling to cut inside to create threats.
Kubo is also hitting the ground in La Liga. It’s just that he needs to improve his goal-scoring ability. Once the 23-year-old does that, he will be amongst the elite attackers in the world. Regarding the signing, Liverpool is preparing an offer of €65 million. Moreover, the English outfit are also ready to pay £240,000 a week in wages to the youngster.
