As reported by Football Insider, Liverpool have their eyes on Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon and even enquired about the possible transfer. It also claims that the latter club want Jarell Quansah as a part of the deal.
The growth of Anthony Gordon
Anthony Gordon came through the ranks of Everton but moved to Newcastle United in the 2023 winter window in search of game-time. His impressive glimpses and progress have helped him earn a spot in the team sheet.’
Gordon took his game to new heights as he scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 appearances this season. He averaged 2 shots, 1.4 key passes, and 1.3 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The English attacker mainly operates on the left wing but can feature in other roles if needed. He has the pace, physical strength, and high work rate, which make him an ideal winger. His passing and finishing in the final third are also top-notch.
Should Liverpool let leave Jarell Quansah?
Liverpool need to add depth to their offensive line amid the uncertainty over the future of some names. Hence, the arrival of Anthony Gordon will help in that area for sure. His creativity in the final third will also come in handy for the team.
As Gordan has already started dropping performances and is bound to get better with time, he can be a long-term investment for the Reds. However, Newcastle United’s demand to include Jarell Quansah in the deal seems unacceptable.
Quansah has been a key player for Liverpool over the past couple of seasons. With Virgil van Dijk being on the wrong side of 30, and Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez being injury-prone, the club wouldn’t want to lose the Quansah at any cost.
Hence, the Reds might resist including the 21-year-old as a part of the deal. They will look to agree on an all-cash deal with the Magpies.
