In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Everton have identified Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom as a target. It is understood that the Toffees are keeping a keen eye on the Danish attacker this summer.
Lindstrom’s Difficult Season In Italian Football
Lindstrom had a tough campaign at the Naples-based club recently as he struggled to be consistent for them in Serie A. The Denmark international was involved in 29 matches for the Italian club last season but failed to score or create a goal for them across multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he only averaged 0.6 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in Serie A. He was even excellent when distributing the ball from inside his half after completing 84.4% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, Everton have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Lindstrom in this transfer period.
Should Everton Go For Lindstrom This Summer?
Lindstrom can create some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can engineer the odd chance for others around him in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
However, the Danish talent has to find a way to be more productive in front of the opponent’s half. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Toffees manage to bring him on board this summer.
Still, we can expect Lindstrom to bring more quality and depth to Everton‘s attack. He has what it takes to compete for regular first-team football at Goodison Park next season.
At 24, there is still a lot of room for improvement in Lindstrom’s game, so it makes sense for the Merseyside club to go for someone with his qualities this summer. However, Sean Dyche would have to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of the player in the future.
