In a recent print edition, The Sunday People mentioned that Everton are keeping tabs on Watford winger Yaser Asprilla. It has been stated that the Toffees would have to rival Arsenal in the race to land the Colombian talent this summer.
Asprilla’s Impressive Run Of Form At Vicarage Road Last Season
Asprilla enjoyed a decent campaign at the Hertfordshire club after he put in a run of influential displays on the right side of their attack. The 20-year-old did well to score six goals and secure eight assists in 47 matches for Watford last season in multiple competitions.
The talented youngster was a real menace in the final third as he averaged 1.7 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 77.9% in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the London club will run out at the end of next season which could open the door for the Toffees to snap him up on the cheap in this transfer window.
Is Asprilla A Good Option For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?
Asprilla is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball on the right wing. He has got the eye to make some decent plays for others around him on the offensive end of the field and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The Colombian talent chipped in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for the Hornets in the previous campaign. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Toffees manage to bring him on board this summer.
At 20, Asprilla has the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve as a footballer with each year. Hence, he would be a great option for Everton boss Sean Dyche to pursue in the long run.
Asprilla would no doubt increase competition for places within the Merseyside club‘s squad next season. Thus, Dyche should focus on recruiting him during this summer transfer period.
