In a recent report, The Guardian revealed that Everton are among the clubs hoping to land Chelsea forward Armando Broja this summer. It has been claimed that the Toffees would have to rival Bologna, AC Milan and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to land the Albanian talent this off-season.
Broja’s Difficult Season In The Premier League
Broja had a tough campaign at Stamford Bridge recently after struggling to earn a regular starting spot for the Blues in the Premier League. The 22-year-old scored two goals and picked up one assist in 27 matches for Chelsea last season in various competitions.
The 22-year-old made most of his appearances off the bench but deserves some credit for averaging 1.0 shots and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing it in the final third based on his pass success rate of 89.2% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Chelsea will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, the Toffees would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about landing the Albanian talent later this year.
Everton Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Land Broja: Is He Worth The Fight?
Broja is proficient at engineering some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a good finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field. The Albanian talent can even make a few clever runs with the ball up top. Standing at 1.91m, he can use his strong frame to hold the ball up the field for his team.
Broja already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Merseyside club.
However, Broja needs to earn regular first-team starts if he wants to reach his true potential. Everton head coach Sean Dyche has the luxury of offering him more playing opportunities at Goodison Park.
At 22, Broja has what it takes to be a future star in English football. Therefore, he would be well worth the fight, so the Merseyside club should consider going all out to bring him on board ahead of the new campaign.
