According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea are interested in signing Manchester City youngster Oscar Bobb in the summer transfer window. The former club will make their moves if the player doesn’t get enough game-time in the pre-season at Etihad Stadium.
Oscar Bobb hasn’t got enough chances
Oscar Bobb signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2019. He was always a highly-rated youngster and he came with a lot of expectations. However, he has yet to cement his spot in the senior team, which is already overloaded with world-class names.
Despite being a great talent, Bobb was restricted to just 606 minutes last season. He featured in 26 games, netting two goals and as many assists. He averaged 0.4 shots, 0.8 key passes, and 0.9 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Norwegian is a versatile attacker who can feature in multiple positions up front. He is a capable dribbler, who does neat work in tight spaces. He uses his acceleration and visionary passing to create threats. The player also makes in behind runs and tracks back to help in defence.
Chelsea want to pull off another Cole Palmer deal
Chelsea need to bolster their attacking unit if they wish to fight for the trophies next season. The club want to replicate the case of Cole Palmer with Oscar Bobb. The English international was a big hit at Stamford Bridge and performed better than expected.
As Bobb is also struggling to get enough game-time at Manchester City, the Blues can take advantage of the situation. If the player remains outside Pep Guardiola‘s plans, they will try acquiring his services in the summer.
The 21-year-old could be a great addition to Enzo Maresca’s pack. His adaptability in the offensive line will help the side immensely. Chelsea will look to use chief Joe Shields’ connections to sign the talented youngster.
