Chelsea are on the run in the transfer window to strengthen their unit before the next season kicks in. They are even considering signing former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is available for free, according to Fichajes.
Adrien Rabiot is a well-known figure
Adrien Rabiot came through the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and made a name for himself. He then moved to Juventus in the summer of 2019. Though he had a difficult start at the Italian club, things improved as time passed.
Rabiot was expected to leave in 2023 but he stayed for another year. He featured in 35 games last season, netting five goals and providing three assists. He averaged 1.9 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, and 0.9 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The French midfielder is a versatile midfielder who can take up different roles in the middle of the park. He is excellent at defensive aspects. However, he likes to play with more freedom and moves from box to box to contribute.
What if Enzo Fernandez leaves?
Due to Enzo Fernandez‘s recent controversy off the field after winning the Copa America Cup, many spectaculate that the Argentine might leave this summer. Needless to mention that any controversy affects the dressing room’s atmosphere. Though Chelsea will try to hold onto the midfielder, anything can happen in today’s world. Hence, they must be well prepared to fill the spot if required.
Whatever happens, Enzo Maresca‘s side needs recruitment in the midfield and signing Adrien Rabiot would be a great move. Rabiot’s experience and versatility will add a lot of value and help the Blues perform better on the field.
Moreover, it will be financially a good deal as the 29-year-old is a free agent. Getting a player of his quality for free would be a jackpot. However, Chelsea will have to make their moves quickly as a couple of European clubs are also keen on signing Rabiot this summer.
