In a recent report, journalist Gerard Romero stated that Barcelona have been offered a chance to sign France international Adrien Rabiot. It has been claimed that the Catalan club have been given an opportunity to sign the former Juventus midfielder this summer.
Rabiot’s Impressive Season In Italian Football
Rabiot had a decent campaign at the Italian club recently as he managed to put in a run of influential performances for them in the middle of the park. The French midfield ace made 35 appearances for Juve last season, netting five goals and securing three assists in various competitions.
The 29-year-old proved his worth at both ends of the pitch and deserves credit for averaging 1.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.2 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in Serie A. He was even accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 84.4% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Rabiot is a free agent at the moment as he was released by Juventus recently. Hence, Barcelona could sign him on a free transfer if Hansi Flick is willing to offer him a chance to shine at the Nou Camp.
Is Rabiot A Good Fit For Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick?
Rabiot loves a tackle and can make some important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He usually clears the danger when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
The France international can orchestrate a few promising chances for his teammates up top and is a strong runner with the ball. He can even generate some power with his shot attempts from long range.
We can expect Rabiot to add more quality to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp next season.
Rabiot might even help the Catalan giants challenge for some major silverware over the next few years. At 29, he is playing in his prime right now and has what it takes to make an immediate impact at Barcelona if he can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football. With all things considered, Flick should focus on offering Rabiot a contract as he would be a decent fit for Barca‘s needs in the short term.
