In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is on the radar of Newcastle United. It has been claimed that the Magpies have launched a €30m offer to sign him from the Catalan club this summer.
Torres’ Impressive Season In La Liga
The 24-year-old had a decent campaign at the Nou Camp as he was responsible for putting in a run of impressive displays for them in La Liga. Torres found the back of the net 11 times and grabbed four assists in 42 matches for Barca last season in various competitions.
The Spain international made most of his appearances off the bench which could be why he only averaged 1.3 shots and 0.9 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga football. He was even tidy when distributing the ball after completing 80.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Catalan club will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Barca boss Hansi Flick will be under no pressure to let Torres leave this summer.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Cash In On Torres This Summer?
Torres excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. Torres is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as a right-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if told to do so.
The Spanish talent can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. However, Torres has to find a way to earn more first-term starts if he wants to grow as a footballer.
Torres remains a crucial member of Barcelona‘s match-day squad. Plus, Hansi Flick could prove to be the ideal man to unlock the best out of the Spanish talent at the Nou Camp in the coming seasons.
All in all, Flick should not consider cashing in on Torres this summer. At 24, he has still got the potential to be a success story at the Catalan club in the long run. Therefore, it makes sense for Barca to keep hold of the Spain international beyond this summer transfer period.
