In a recent report, Sport claimed that Barcelona boss Hansi Flick is a big admirer of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are weighing up a move for the Spanish talent this off-season.
Williams’ Impressive Form In Spanish Football
Williams enjoyed a decent campaign at the Spanish club after he put in a series of productive performances for them in the final third. The 21-year-old banged in eight goals and earned 19 assists in 39 matches for Athletic Bilbao last season across all fronts.
The Spanish talent has been a consistent performer out on the flanks as he averaged 1.8 shots, 1.5 key passes, 1.5 crosses and 2.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 79.2% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
