In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Barcelona are planning to move in for Manchester City forward Erling Haaland next summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club are showing interest in recruiting the Norway international in 2025.
Haaland’s Excellent Form In At Man City
Haaland had another outstanding campaign at the Mancunian club as he produced a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 23-year-old participated in 45 matches for Man City last season, netting 38 goals and grabbing six assists in multiple competitions.
The Norway international led the line and deserves credit for averaging 3.9 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even careful when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 77.4% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Barcelona to get him on board at the end of next season.
Is Haaland A Dream Option For Barcelona Boss Hani Flick?
Haaland can use his strength to overpower the opposition defenders in the air and can hold possession up for his team in the final third. He is a lethal finisher in front of the opponent’s goal but needs to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.
Standing at 1.95m, the Norway international is a towering presence inside the opponent’s penalty area. He has already proven his worth at the highest level and won’t need time to settle into life at the Nou Camp if the Catalan club can get him on board next summer.
Haaland would add plenty of firepower to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s attack. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski at the Catalan club. All in all, Haaland would be a dream option for Barca to consider at the end of next season as long as they have the finances to pull off such a blockbuster transfer.
The Norwegian centre-forward has what it takes to help the Spanish giants compete for a lot of major trophies in the future. Therefore, Flick should focus on going all out to bring Haaland to Spanish football next year.
