In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Aston Villa are facing tough competition for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville this summer. It has been stated that the Villans would have to rival Liverpool, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace in the race to land the English wide player.
Summerville’s Impressive Run Of Form At Elland Road Last Season
Summerville had an impressive campaign at the West Yorkshire club after he produced a run of decent displays for them in the final third. The 22-year-old banged in 21 goals and grabbed ten assists in 49 matches for Leeds last season in various competitions.
The Rotterdam-born talent was a decent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 3.0 shots, 2.6 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He has also been tidy when distributing possession after making 83.9% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Leeds will run out in the summer of 2026 which would make it difficult for the Villans to win the race for his services on the cheap in this transfer period.
Aston Villa Are Facing Tough Competition For Summerville: Is He Worth The Fight?
Summerville is a decent dribbler with the ball and can use his quickness to get in behind the opponent’s defence. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can create some meaningful openings for his teammates up top.
The English talent can also chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. He is primarily a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect Summerville to add more firepower to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s frontline. He has what it takes to help the West Midlands club challenge across all fronts in the coming years.
Summerville already has some experience in the Premier League under his belt and won’t take much time to settle into life at Villa Park. At 22, he has the ceiling to be a future star in English football. Hence, he would be well worth the fight and could prove to be an excellent choice for the Villans in the long run.
