In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Aston Villa are eager to recruit Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix this summer. It has been claimed that the Villans have identified the Portugal international as a target for this transfer window.
Felix’s Impressive Loan Spell At The Nou Camp
Felix enjoyed a decent loan spell at Barcelona last season as he managed to put in a string of productive displays for them in La Liga. The Viseu-born attacker did well to score ten goals and secure six assists in 44 matches for the Catalan outfit in the previous campaign in multiple competitions.
The Portuguese talent was a decent performer in the final third and deserves credit for averaging 2,0 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in La Liga. He even interchanged possession relatively well in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 83.7% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Atletico Madrid will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, the Villans would have to make a big offer if they are serious about bringing Felix to Villa Park this off-season.
Will Felix Be A Dream Option For Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery?
Felix is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few eye-catching runs with the ball on the offensive third of the field. He can shoot the ball with venom and precision from long range and has got the eye to set up some meaningful openings for his teammates in and around the opponent’s penalty box.
The Portuguese sensation can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He is primarily a left-winger but can also fill in as a centre-forward if told to do so by his manager. Felix would no doubt bring more firepower to Aston Villa‘s frontline.
Unai Emery could be the ideal man to unlock the best out of the Portugal international at Villa Park in the coming seasons. All in all, Felix would be a dream option for the West Midlands club to consider before the end of this transfer window.
