In a recent report, Fotospor mentioned that West Ham United have launched a move to sign Galatasaray speedster Wilfried Zaha. It has been claimed that the Hammers have tabled an official offer to recruit the Ivory Coast attacker this summer.
Zaha’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football Last Season
The 31-year-old enjoyed a decent campaign at the Turkish club as he managed to put in a handful of eye-catching displays for them in the final third. Zaha has found the back of the net ten times and grabbed five assists in 42 matches for Galatasaray last season across multiple competitions.
The Ivory Coast talent has been a good performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.6 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 79.4% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Zaha’s current deal at the Turkish club will expire in the summer of 2026. Therefore, West Ham would have to make a big offer if they are serious about bringing him back to the Premier League this summer.
Should West Ham United Get Zaha On Board?
Zaha is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He generates a lot of power with his shot attempts and can use his quickness to get in behind the opponent’s backline.
The Ivory Coast is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play on the right wing or operate as a striker down the middle if needed. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Crystal Palace and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the London Stadium if West Ham manage to sign him this summer.
At 31, Zaha has still got a few good years left in him to play at his best. He is good enough to help the East London giants challenge for European football once again in the coming years. Therefore, it makes sense for the Hammers to try and get him on board in this summer transfer period.
