In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that West Ham United are in talks to land Real Betis full-back Juan Miranda this summer. It has been stated that the Hammers are keeping tabs on the Spanish defender who is set to become a free agent soon.
Miranda’s Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football
Miranda had a solid campaign at the Spanish club as he put in a series of impressive displays on the left side of Real Betis’ backline. The 24-year-old scored two goals and picked up two assists in 32 matches for his current employers last season across multiple competitions.
The Spanish talent has given a good account of himself on the left flank based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 2.0 clearances, 0.6 shots and 0.9 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing possession after making 82.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Spanish club will expire at the end of this month. Thus, the Hammers could potentially land him on a free transfer later this summer.
Should West Ham United Boss Julen Lopetegui Move In For Miranda?
Miranda is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can strike the ball with power from long range.
The Spanish talent has got the eye to play some decisive passes from the left flank. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football if West Ham manage to get him on board this summer.
We can expect him to bring more quality and depth to Julen Lopetegui’s defence. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium in the coming seasons. At 24, the best is yet to come from Miranda, so the East London club would be wise to move in for him before the end of this transfer window as he could help them compete across all fronts in the future.
