In a recent report, Aslinda claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to launch a move for Fenerbahce playmaker Sebastian Szymanski. It has been revealed that Spurs are ready to make a £17m offer to sign the Poland international this summer.
Szymanski’s Impressive Numbers In Turkish Football Last Season
Szymanski had a productive campaign in Turkish football recently as he put in a series of fruitful performances for Fenerbahce in the final third. The 25-year-old played in 55 matches for the Turkish outfit last season, finding the back of the net on 13 occasions and earning 19 assists across all competitions.
The Polish talent gave a good account of himself in the opposition half based on his average of 2.3 tackles, 2.4 shots, 1.4 crosses and 2.1 key passes per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 78.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Turkish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turkish club will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Tottenham to land him on the cheap in this transfer window.
Is Szymanski A Decent Choice For Tottenham Hotspur?
Szymanski loves a tackle and can strike the ball with venom from long range. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and is a good crosser of the ball.
The Poland international is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-winger if asked to do so. However, he is still unproven at the highest level and would need some time to adjust to life in Premier League football.
We can expect to Szymanski to bring more firepower to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 25, Szymanski has his best years ahead of him which makes him an excellent choice for Spurs to consider in this summer transfer window. However, Postecoglu needs to give him some time to settle into his playing style at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
