In a recent tweet, journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that Real Madrid have identified Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich as a target for this summer transfer window. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the German talent to the Spanish capital but would have to rival Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona in pursuit of him.
Kimmich’s Impressive Season In The Bundesliga
The 29-year-old had a solid campaign at the Allianz Arena as he put in a lot of influential displays on the right side of the Bayern backline. Kimmich ended last season with a couple of goals and ten assists to his name after making 43 appearances for the Bavarian club across all competitions.
The Germany international proved his worth in the middle of the park by averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.9 shots and 2.6 key passes per game in Bundesliga football. He has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 91.3% in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
Kimmich is under contract at Bayern Munich until the end of next season. Hence, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal this summer.
What Will Kimmich Bring To Real Madrid?
Kimmich loves a tackle and can make some important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and is a pure striker of the ball from long range.
The German midfield ace can even set up a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He mainly operates as a right-back but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a holding midfielder if told to do so.
We can expect Kimmich to bring more quality to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the Madrid club next season. The German talent might even help Los Blancos compete for some major trophies in the future.
At 29, Kimmich is still playing in his prime and has got a wealth of experience at the highest level. Hence, he would be a good option for the Madrid giants to pursue later this summer.
