According to Sport Italia, Liverpool have identified Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as a viable target for the summer transfer window. The Premier League want to add the player to their ranks to strengthen the midfield section ahead of next season.
Adrien Rabiot is a versatile midfielder
Adrien Rabiot came through the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where he caught the limelight. His impressive performances at the youth level opened the doors for the national selection. He was signed by Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.
Rabiot had a decent campaign this term, where he featured in 35 outings. He scored five goals and provided three assists in the process. He averaged 1.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, and 0.9 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The French midfielder is a versatile player who can fit into multiple styles of play. He is better known for his defensive skills but is also handy to help in attacking aspects. He is an intelligent reader of the game and does well in aerial duels because of his good height.
Adrien Rabiot will provide flexibility
Liverpool wouldn’t mind bringing a couple of more midfielders in the summer. Despite hiring some good names last summer, their midfield looked a bit underperforming. Due to multiple injuries and a lack of defensive midfielders, the players couldn’t be rotated well enough.
Hence, the pursuit of Adrien Rabiot could be a good move for the Reds. As the 29-year-old is a proven and experienced campaigner, his arrival will add a lot of value. His versatility will allow Arne Slot to use the players wisely and keep the legs fresh for big games.
Moreover, Rabiot isn’t likely to sign a contract renewal with Juventus and will come for free. Getting a player of his quality and experience as a free agent should be a bargain. However, Liverpool will have to win the race against the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid to acquire the services of the Frenchman.
