According to la Gazette du Fennec, Liverpool have identified Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri as a viable target for the summer transfer window. The former club are even considering making an official bid soon to acquire his services.
Rayan Ait-Nouri is an attacking-minded defender
A graduate of Angery, Rayan Ait-Nouri joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2020 on a loan deal. Impressed by his performances in the debut season, the English club decided to make his move permanent the next summer.
Since then, Ait-Nouri has risen in stature and has established himself as a reliable player for the club. He featured in 38 games this season, netting thrice and providing two assists. He averaged 2.2 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, and 1 clearance per game (stats via whoscored).
The Algerian is a natural left-back but can also feature as a winger. While he is solid in the defensive traits of the game, he also contributes in the offensive role. He is a great dribbler and tries to provide crosses into the box to create threats.
Where will Rayan Ait-Nouri fit in Liverpool?
Liverpool are keen on signing Rayan Ait-Nouri due to his excellence in both defensive and attacking. The player is a modern-day left-back and would fit perfectly into their style of play. His arrival at Anfield will also add depth to the unit.
As Ait-Nouri can operate in the midfield or as a winger, it will allow Arne Slot to rotate the players well. The 23-year-old can be a good long-term investment should he contribute to improving his game. The Reds’ left-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas both faced fitness issues last season.
Hence, it’s understandable that the English outfit are keen on bringing a new name to provide backup. However, the Reds will have to beat the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in order to acquire the hot property. The deal shouldn’t cost too much for any of the clubs.
