In a recent report, Takvim claimed that Everton forward Beto is generating interest from Turkey as Fenerbahce are eager to recruit him this summer. It has been mentioned that the Turkish club are showing interest in signing the Portuguese attacker from the Toffees this off-season.
Beto’s Up-And-Down Season At Goodison Park
Beto experienced a difficult campaign at the Merseyside club as he struggled to earn regular first-team starts for them in the Premier League. The Portuguese striker managed to catch the eye at times in the final third after he made 37 appearances for the Toffees, scoring five goals and securing two assists in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old saw a lot of game time come off the bench which explains why he only averaged 1.4 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 61.5% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Sean Dyche is under no immediate pressure to cash in on him in this transfer window.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Cut Beto Loose This Summer?
Beto can engineer some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create the odd chance for others around him on the offensive end of the field.
The Portuguese sensation can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. He managed to prove his worth at times for the Toffees last season but is still far from a consistent goal-scorer. Standing at 1.94m, the gifted forward can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team but needs to work on improving his link-up play in the final third.
Still, Everton would be wise to keep hold of Beto beyond this summer as he remains an important member of Sean Dyche’s frontline. At 26, the Portuguese talent has his best years ahead of him. Thus, the Merseyside club would be wise to not cut Beto loose in this summer transfer window.
